The Dist-Obj list, devoted to the distributed object computing issues of the 21st century, was founded by Ron Resnick (email@example.com) and Mark Baker (firstname.lastname@example.org). The "original gang" consisted of Joe Kiniry, Gayl Lepore, Peter Cook, and Dave Sproule. The list is currently maintained by Joe Kiniry (email@example.com).
This list used to be named FORR. Please see the old introduction for more information.
The FoRR list started in June of 1996. The full FoRR archive has been integrated into the Dist-Obj archive. FoRR became Dist-Obj when it moved to Caltech (in February of 1997). There is a lot of information in the archive even in the early archive even if it contains only a few dozens messages, so it makes a great deal of sense for interested parties to read through the early messages to get the best context for the list.
Dist-Obj was hosted by the Caltech Infospheres Group from February, 1997 to December, 1998, then moved to its current home at the Distributed Coalition.
Please read over the Dist-Obj FAQ before joining and posting to the list.
