Yes, certainly java is far more attractive as programming
language than as a platform. A religiously-minimal subset
of C++, coupled with a GC if necessary, also works well,
but is certainly less popular. Anyway, that's a side issue.

Well, it is true, they are commercial, although I expect
they would let you try it before paying. On QNX support,
I can't imagine that's a major undertaking (esp. if you're
using an already-supported CPU or the AOT is of the
bytecode->C source variety, like TowerJ).
